Miscanthus has the greatest production potential on fertile agricultural land with adequate water supply.
The ideal location for this plant is a humus-rich loamy soil or a slightly warmed humus-rich sandy soil. The seedbed should be prepared similarly to that of corn.
The plant’s rhizomes are underground storage organs. At the beginning of the growing season, the stored nutrient reserves are used to develop the foliage mass. In the fall, the plant stores nutrients again for future regrowth.
Due to the low moisture content of the harvest, miscanthus can be stored without issue for several years.
